A new MA program, taught in English
Cohort B
Opening in October 2011
Orientation Day
An innovative program designed to impart expertise in fields relevant to the development of local communities in impoverished regions across the world
In an increasingly globalized world, there is growing need to enhance the work of volunteers and professionals working in organizations that are committed to narrowing the gap between the 'haves' and the 'have-nots' of this world. Accordingly, this program studies the contexts relevant to understanding the work undertaken by international NGOs committed to enhancing the life prospects of individuals and communities in under-developed regions of the world. The program aims at providing the tools for the effective translation of academic perspectives into practical know-how conducive to work with communities across the globe. Thus, in addition to academic study at the Hebrew University, the program includes one semester of internship with an international NGO.
For individuals with a global perspective on the one hand, and an appreciation for local solutions on the other, this program – that combines cutting-edge academic thought and research with practical knowledge and experience – offers a unique opportunity to gain expertise and play a meaningful role in development efforts.
